Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar, an American and British sitar artist. She was the first and first female to win the British House of Commons Shield she's had Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to perform live in concert and act as a host at the ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is one of the rising stars of India's sitar. She is a student as well as daughter of the famous Ravi Shankar. Born in 1982, she was raised in London. Her early years included a period of time between London as well as New Delhi. At the age of 13 she staged her debut performance in New Delhi. At the age of 13, she finished her high school studies at Encinitas CA. Anouskha still has a promising career in recording and performing despite being young. She often joins her father in performances this she's been doing for quite a few years. She released her debut album in 1998. released Anourag as her debut album as a solo artist. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Since she's performed at every major stage in all over the globe, her career on stage has been extensive. Anoushka Shakar's career isn't just limited to music. Bapi: The Love of My Live is her 2002 memoir, that was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. Also, she appeared in the film "Dance Like a Man" in 2003. She played a Bharat Nayam dancer on Dance Like a Man. Her career continues to grow and she will continue to do many great things in the near future. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent the majority of her youth living between London and Delhi after which she moved to California in the state where she attended high school. In Delhi during his birthday celebrations for his 75th birthday Anoushka first made an appearance as a sitar player before the crowd of four years following her nine-year-old father. Anoushka was a part of her father on his worldwide tour, gained an impressive quantity of knowledge. When she was in her teens, she performed in Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and recorded alongside George Harrison. She was the youngest and only female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her musicianship and talent as an outstanding musician from music in Asian Arts.
